Sustainability

We are very excited to present Mayfield Point – our new mixed-use development designed to serve the local community. We are looking forward to sharing our local knowledge and sustainability goals with you and hope you will visit this wonderful location of ours.

The proposed scheme will benefit the local community with funds raised used by Greenham Trust to assist local charitable organisations and supporting the continued growth of Newbury College. In addition, the scheme will provide much needed new facilities delivered in harmony with the Three Pillars of Sustainability to balance social, environmental, and economic attributes of the built environment.

Mayfield Point has been designed specifically with these three pillars in mind.  The development is a significant investment in Newbury and the economic gain will be a boost to the area and the people who live here with the creation of jobs.

The funds generated further underpin the social pillar with Greenham Trust’s charitable giving and the educational work of Newbury College benefitting the whole community. In addition, building a care home and hospice will greatly improve the social care provision in the local area.

The final pillar relates to the environment, which is at the forefront of this modern, purpose-built scheme. Mayfield Point occupies an unrivalled location to the south of Newbury, creating a new gateway into the town and serving residents to the south. It is within walking distance of Newbury Retail Park and the many pubs, clubs, gyms, and coffee shops that adorn the area. There are excellent pedestrian, cycle, and public transport links which, combined with the creation of EV charging stations, signify a move towards more sustainable modes of transport. The scheme has been designed to complement the natural world with low level buildings, the creation of new open spaces and native planting and landscaping. In addition we are seeking that the scheme incorporates:

  • Low Carbon commercial buildings attaining BREEAM excellent

  •  Sustainable homes comprising:

    • Home Quality Mark for quality and sustainability (https://www.homequalitymark.com)

    • High performance building fabric and equipment

    • Use of renewables such as PV, heat pumps, CHP

    • Low energy consumption strategies

    • High daylight dwellings with home working provisions and fast internet

    • Social and modern ‘people-first’ housing layouts

    • Rapid EV charging station onsite with overnight chargers to each home

    • ISO and BS accredited construction materials and construction waste reduction and management

    • A digital concierge platform detailing sustainable initiatives and encouraging participation with an awards scheme recognizing those who make the greatest impact.

We hope you share our excitement about Mayfield Point and are looking forward to engaging with the community on these important subjects.
